Welcome to St Mary & St Margaret

Welcome to the website for St Mary and St Margaret Church! We are a thriving and inclusive all-age congregation from many walks of life.  While many people come from the local community – the “village setting” of Castle Bromwich with its Hall and Gardens – many others are drawn from further afield and from different Christian traditions.

Our Parish Communion service combines a vibrant blend of good music, contemporary and more traditional liturgies and accessible preaching explores scripture in the context of our challenging post-modern society. We do not shy away from the difficult issues of our times.

Mission, Outreach, Thanksgiving and celebration are at the heart of our ethos. This is reflected in the Parish Communion, the celebration of God's gift of creation. Celebration is also at the heart of our active social life, fellowship and study and prayer groups. Our well-used Community Hall is helping us to grow as a Church, providing space for alternative worship, groups for children and older people and as a place to reach out to our local community.

While Rev Mark is on personal leave I shall be available
2pm to 3pm Monday to Friday and Saturday  12pm to 4pm

Incase of emergency please call or text and if I can I will help

JANUARY 2021 SERVICES:

After consulting with the PCC we took the tough decision to close the church on Sundays and Wednesdays for the time being. This is not mandated by the new lockdown restrictions but we wanted to make sure we are keeping everyone safe and so in-person services seemed too much of a risk for the present. The PCC will continue to review this regularly and we will be pleased for you to join us on zoom on Sundays at 9.30am where we will have an online service using the booklets Mary produces for those at home each week.

If you would like to join our email mailing list to receive our regular newsletter which includes Church news, all the links for upcoming services and online events, you can find out more and register by clicking this link:

WORSHIP AT HOME:
Service booklets can be found  on this website in special services on the events page

Daily Hope free telephone number 0800 804 8044
A Church of England resource with a selection of hymns, reflections and prayers for those not on the internet.  The service is supported by the Church of England nationally as well as through the Connections group based at Holy Trinity Claygate in Surrey and the Christian charity Faith in Later Life.

CHURCH ATTENDANCE FOR SCHOOL REQUIREMENTS: Wednesdays and Sundays an attendance register will be taken for parents seeking admission for children to St Mary and St Margaret Primary School. Children are welcome at all our services however we ask parents to ensure they follow social distancing and remain with their families during the service. This is suspended during lockdown

BAPTISM AND WEDDING BOOKING with our co-ordinator Shirley Middlemass will resume in Church on Saturdays from 10-11am from 3rd October. This is suspended during lockdown

GROUPS AND ACTIVITIES:
Most of our groups are currently unable to operate in the Church Hall due to Covid-19, however some of the fitness classes and our baby and me group (alternate Thursdays) have now resumed. (Under lockdown rules again)
We regret we cannot take private bookings at present.

ORGAN RESTORATION:
What an exciting moment folks: on 6th September 2020 we heard our restored organ for the first time at around 10.15. Thanks to everyone for your support over the weeks, months and years leading to now. A particular thank you to the Organ Restoration committee of course and the skilled team from Diss led by Rodney Briscoe. Lets look forward to a rededication service sometime in the future when we can have a full church. Martin
